Cambelts and Timing Chains

Cambelts

A cambelt (or timing belt) is a crucial part of your vehicles engine. Failure of this belt can cause catastophic damage to the engine. It is essential that they are replaced at the reccommended interval to avoid very expensive repair bills.

Timing belt replcement can sometimes be a costlt excercise, considering it makes little difference to how a car runs, however the alternative does, in most cases, not bear thingking about.

At Bridgeway Garage we can advise you on this and give you a no obligation quote for the work - Belts usually come as a kit.

Timiing Chains

A timing Chain does the same job as a timing belt but where the belt is made of rubber the chain is made of metal. The beslt runs on outside of engine but the chain runs on outside and is lubricated by engine oil. It does not need to be replaced unless there is a problem. Worn timing chains are usually noisy (or rattle) and can cause low power, engine to feel sluggish or bad starting.
